Captain Rex and Fives, along with Ahsoka Tano, unexpectedly became my three favorite characters in the pantheon of Star Wars heroes. I like depth in characters, and given that Rex, Fives, and Ahsoka have so much screen time in the Clone Wars cartoon series as compared to characters in movies, they had the opportunity to grow, change, and face tragedy in ways characters in movies almost never do.
Until very recently, it wasn’t possible to mimic in SWTOR the iconic clone trooper armor with high fidelity. The Warstorm Veteran set seems inspired by the Clone Wars trooper Phase 1 armor, specifically Captain Rex as a dual-wielding pistoleer. But the set doesn’t include a kama, the butt/hip cloaks many “main character” clone troopers wore. The Unbreakable Veteran’s helmet is a close approximation of the Phase 2 clone trooper armor, but still there were no kamas in the game. Then we got the brand new Sith Cultist’s Armor, and at last, a kama!
Below is the closest I think it’s possible to get in SWTOR to the clone trooper armor. It’s not a cheap set to put together, and the dye alone was running for 1.2m credits on Satele Shan’s GTN at the time of writing.
On the other hand, there is such a VAST array of armor in SWTOR (one of my favorite things about this game), there might be better options for various pieces that I haven’t considered. How does this look to you? How would you improve it?
